About

Founded by Garth and Maddy in 2006, Bristol Garden Company has accumulated a loyal client base over the years.

Garth manages the maintenance and landscaping.
Maddy does the design - and looks after everything else behind the scenes.

We feel lucky to work with a team of talented, creative, and dedicated people who are as passionate and committed as we are to creating, restoring and maintaining beautiful grounds and gardens.

Garth : Partner

Garth cut his gardening teeth as a grounds maintenance operative for a large national company. He moved on to became a gardener for a Bristol based not-for profit organisation, providing gardening and landscaping services within deprived areas of the city.

In 2004 alongside his job, Garth studied Horticulture at Pershore College and started to think about doing it for himself.  In 2006 with just a handful of clients on the books Garth set up Bristol Garden Company.  In 2007 as their eldest son was born, Garth took the plunge and gave up employment to launch himself fully into the business of gardening.

Garth has grown Bristol Garden Company through his ability to connect with people, to give people his time and to give them the best solution for what they need.  Garth is highly focussed, task driven and ambitious.  He loves a project and is always onto the next thing - looking at ways of making things better for all.

Maddy : Partner

On leaving University with a BA in Design Management, Maddy started out in production and print buying.

She honed her project management, organisational and communication skills in the demanding, deadline-based and highly client-focussed field of advertising.  Maddy has always loved art, graphic design, sculpture, architecture and the natural world and decided it was time to get back to her design roots.  She retrained in Garden Design at Pershore College.

Maddy has natural empathy and a real ability to listen, consider and react.  This results in a client focussed response and ultimately a design that is a unique solution to a space, as functional as it is beautiful  Maddy is inspired by the positive impact outdoor space can have on mental and physical well-being and by the reaction of the senses to gardens and landscapes.
